I did not buy this item to use with dressed eggs, but as a water color paint palette. It is a wonder palette. The well in the center is the perfect spot for the undiluted paint out of the tube. The egg wells make the perfect spot for mixing the paint colors and keep the mixed paint contained. I was also looking for something that was porcelain because it is easier to clean. This was much cheaper the porcelain items designed to be a paint palette, but look very much like this egg dish. Super pleased with this purchase. Have already used it twice and absolutely love it.

If you work in watercolor or gouache, this is a perfect palette. Colors like phthalo blue, dioxazine purple or perylene red tend to stain plastic palettes very badly. This deviled egg dish has perfect sized wells for paints and a good sized mixing area. Cleans very easily with no staining. You’ll do better with one of these at 10″ wide than a 7″ porcelain palette from an art supplier and at better price.
